Six Months Later: Living Fully

Today marks six months since my dad passed away. He was 74, on dialysis, and living with the long-term effects of Diabetes. Helping him through it showed me both the miracles and heartbreaks of modern medicine—how hope can feel like a gift and a burden at the same time.

I’ve realized I don’t want to live the same way. I want to do, see, and experience life fully. That’s why I started this blog—to share my voice and encourage others to step outside routines, try something new, and embrace the moment.

Life with Diabetes may take a lot, but it also teaches us to appreciate the now, our loved ones, and the small joys. That’s why home, family, travel, and adventures matter so much.

This fall, Johnny, Biscuit, and Gram are joining me on walks for Diabetes research in San Antonio, Round Rock, and Fort Worth. I’ll walk to honor my dad, show support, and advocate for breakthroughs so no one has to watch a loved one deteriorate over time. Find a walk near you: Breakthrough T1D.

Life is short. Pain reminds us of that—but it also shows us what truly matters. Live fully, love fiercely, and seize every opportunity.
